Closing Chapters and Kiddie Art

It is crazy how things change so fast. Tomorrow I am going to be closing a chapter of my life when I walk across the stage to graduate from college. College has been a great ride. Whoever said that high school are the best years of your life must have been seriously delusional. These last three years I have made friends in my colleagues and instructors that I don't know what I would do without. Over the next six months I'm going to be auditing a few studio classes to keep my hand in my artwork. I recently applied to the art education masters program at the University of Georgia and will be putting in another application at Florida State in January. Along with that I'll be putting out job applications for a teaching gig...from all that who knows? Just keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, I have thoroughly enjoyed my teaching internship (although, it did get a little crazy at times) below I posted a few pictures of my students' work from both the elementary school and middle school I taught at. These kids are a really talented bunch. I have to say, the ones that impressed me the most were the little guys. They don't think, they just do it-and not as they see it either, but how they feel and know it. A skill some adults seem to have unlearned at times. (Guilty as charged.) I guess Picasso was right, "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

Kindergarten/ First Grade Project- Abstract Drawings of Chair

Yes, this is also from the chair project. This little girl started out with a drawing of said chair in the middle of the room, then proceed to turn her paper sideways. Now we have a plane. Artistic innovation from a five-year-old stand point.
